The Lynchburg Lions Club recently sponsored a "Peace Poster" contest in conjunction with Lions Clubs International. This contest encouraged students who were in middle school-age categories to create a poster that would promote world peace.
This year's theme was "Children Know Peace." The goal was to feature bringing peace to the world, one child at a time.
The Lynchburg Lions Club presented the top three local winners with certificates, candy and cash awards of $25, $15 and $10, respectively.
The first-place winner was Lindsey Lawson; the second-place winner was Nikki Watson; and third place went to Tia McConnaughey. Lindsey's winning poster was then forwarded to the Lions District 13-J competition, where it competed with entries from other Lions Clubs. Results of the district competition will be announced later.
Lindsey is a seventh-grade student at Lynchburg-Clay Middle School, and she is 13 years old. The Lynchburg Lions Club commends Lindsey and all the students for their entries and interest in promoting world peace. The club recognized 15 students from Lynchburg-Clay Middle School who competed in the poster contest.
Each was presented with a special certificate and candy. The Lion Club extends congratulations and thanks to all who participated.
