Junior Women's Club is helping improve the lives of others

Lead Summary

The Hillsboro Junior Women's Club's motto is "Let our lives be such as to help the lives of others." One of the ways they help is by giving scholarships. They are able to do this by the help of the community
when they come by the Lemon Shake Booth at the Festival of Bells. The Lemon Shake Both is the Junior Women's only fundraising event. With the proceeds of that event, the club is able to give scholarships, send children to Camp Joy, contribute to the High Co. Society for Children and Adults telethon, Children's Services, Hillsboro After Prom, etc. The club also puts the lights up in front of the courthouse during the Christmas holidays. In 2007, and 2008, they were able to help contribute to the redecorating of two of the pediatric emergency rooms at Highland District Hospital. The club would not be able to do any of this without the support of the community during the Festival of Bells, and they thank their supporters.
The recipients for this year's scholarships are Taylor Delph and
Alyssa Jones. Taylor is a 2010 graduate of McClain High School. She is
the daughter of Lyle Delph and Lisa Snyder; she will be attending
Miami University and majoring in accounting. Alyssa is a 2010 graduate
of Hillsboro High School. She is the daughter of Julie Jones, and she
will also be attending Miami University and majoring in English. Both
young ladies helped out in the Lemon Shake Booth during the festival.
