HURP to sponsor Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest

A Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest sponsored by the Hillsboro Uptown Renaissance Project will take place on Friday, July 6 during the Festival of the Bells.
Entry fee for an adult is $20 (cash or checks payable to H.U.R.P.). There will be cash prizes given in the adult group (18 years of age and older) of $300 for 1st, $200 for 2nd and $100 for 3rd. Prizes and gift certificates will be awarded in the intermediate group (13-17 years old). There will also be a non-juried area set aside for children 12 and under to showcase their drawing skills. There will be no pre-registration, and only 24 spaces will be set aside for the adult group and 24 spaces for the intermediate group (first come, first served according to place in line).
Individuals may sign up from 10-11 a.m. alongside the old fire house on Governor Trimble Place. Drawing begins at 11 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m., at which time the finished work will be judged by artists Skip Werline and Sandy Pence. Awards will be given out at 3 p.m.
