Historical society holding membership drive

As Highland County moves forward into the 21st century, we all need to ensure our past is not lost. Not only do we need you to join the Highland County Historical Society, but we need you to participate and spread the news.

In 2010, the museum's Christmas store, full of crafts from local artisans, had its best year ever. The annual tea party for children was an overwhelming success.

During the same year, the society sponsored an antique show, a reenactment of the Temperance March and participated in Jean Wallis's Ghost Walk through the cemetery. Finally, check us out on Facebook.com (key in Highland County Historical Society). You'll see a collection of old photos taken in Hillsboro.

In the future, just for starters, we're looking at acquisitions for the museum and investing in historical buildings; making the museum more user-friendly; and enticing our youth to learn about our heritage. However, we cannot do it alone. We need people with ideas. So with a small amount for our membership and a commitment of some time, we can create something the county would be proud of. Membership options are $15, single; $25, family; or $100, heritage. Applications may be sent to 151 East Main St., Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.[[In-content Ad]]
