Hillsboro Emblem Club sends coupons to U.S. Marines

The Hillsboro Emblem Club met on Tuesday, June 8 at the Elks Lodge, with 12 members present.  
    An informal business meeting was conducted.  
    The Americanism chairman read an article about Lee Marvin, Captain Kangaroo and Arlington National Cemetery.
    She reminded everyone to fly their flags on June 14, Flag Day and July 4.
    A total of 2,000 manufacturers’ coupons were sent to the U.S. Marine base in Japan, and 50 labels and 13 box tops for education were taken to area schools.
    The club will break for the summer and meet again on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Hillsboro Elks Lodge.    
    Members continue to run the refreshment sales at bingo every Monday night at 7 o’clock.
    Members enjoyed refreshments consisting of a cake decorated for Flag Day with strawberries and blueberries after the meeting.[[In-content Ad]]
