Highland County Health Department to offer free mammograms

Women ages 40 and older should receive a mammogram ever year. Early detection of breast cancer can significantly improve a woman's chance of survival. Thanks to a generous grant from the Susan G. Komen Foundation and St. Elizabeth Hospital, mammograms will be offered at no cost on Friday, Dec. 7.
St. Elizabeth Hospital's mobile unit will provide mammogram screenings at the Highland County Health Department for women ages 40 and older. Women do not have to be a resident of Highland County to take advantage of this service. Women with or without insurance coverage are eligible to receive a mammogram. Medicare, Medicaid and private insurances will be billed. However, no one will be responsible for any deductible, co-pays or out-of-pocket expenses.
