Greenfield Historical Society announces upcoming events

Greenfield Historical Society will be holding their last Sunday dinner of the year this Sunday, March 3.
The meal will be held at the Grain & Hay building and consist of barbecued breast of chicken, broccoli coleslaw, green beans or peas and carrots, roasted potatoes, flat apple pie, ice cream, bread and drinks.
Waiters and waitresses will be serving guests from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All this for just $10; no tipping.
This is the last of three Historical Society's annual Sunday dinners. The next upcoming event is the annual Spring Tea. The date for the tea is April 14.
This year's Spring Tea will be held April 14 in the Konneker Education on South Street. Addie Ballard Murray will be the character.
Addie Ballard married James Murray, son of the founder of the Murray Funeral Home. She ran the business at a time when most women stayed at home. Several tragedies in her life included the death of her son as a young man and the murder of her nephew.
Mrs. Murray will be presented by Roxanne Judkins. Roxanne has been a part of our Ghost Walks for the last few years and has done an exceptional job.
The Greenfield Historical Society would also like to remind people that it is tax time which is a good time to show their support for local history.
The History Fund, managed by the Ohio Historical Society, is a competitive grant program for local history and preservation projects. In 2012, OHS accumulated $114,000 to re-grant, but had $891,000 in grant requests.
You can narrow the gap between what the History Fund receives and what it gives for great history projects with your contribution to OHS and the History Fund.
On your Ohio income tax return, look for Ohio Historical Society at line 25b on Form IT-1040 or line 18b on Form IT-1040EZ. Fill in the box and thats it you have made your contribution. So, mark your calendar for the Spring Tea on April 14, make a donation towards local history on your Ohio Income Tax forms and come on down, on March 3, after church and have a great meal, visit with friends and support the Greenfield Historical Society.
