Fill the Truck event a success

Despite the rainy conditions, the Salvation Army's Fill the Truck event was a success.

The event was held at Wal-Mart in Hillsboro on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers from Highland County Community Action along with the Salvation Army and the Hillsboro Spanish Club braved the rainy cold conditions to collect new toys and coats for needy children.

According to Julie Wise, the director of HCCAO, "the Fill the Truck event collected seven large bags full of toys, 12 coats and over $500 in cash donations.

"HCCAO will be working along with other agencies throughout the county to make sure the donations are properly distributed to needy children."[[In-content Ad]]Mrs. Wise said "the event could not have been successful without the help of all the volunteers, especially, Christi Hauke, Angie Mustard and Tianna Sammons."
