WILMINGTON, Ohio--The CMH Regional Health System Health Library recently added the Community and Physician Reference (CPR) telephone line and public internet access to better serve its visitors and callers.
The CPR line (937-382-9606) is a starting point for area residents who need help in finding a physician or are seeking information on various community health and social service resources.
The line is the reincarnation and consolidation of separate community reference and physician referral lines that were formerly maintained by CMH when it had a community health education department.
Callers with inquiries about area physician access can be provided with contact information for a list of CMH physicians by specialty and/or location and other criteria. Those inquiring can then make their own decision on what physician to contact.
Library staff is working in conjunction with the CMH Medical Staff Services office to make sure callers are provided with the most up to date information on area physicians. Of course, the information is also available for library walk-ins and via the CMH web site at www.cmhregional.com.
The new CPR line is also intended as a general resource for consumer inquiries about CMH services, classes and events, in particular, and community services, classes and events, in general.
CMH Health Library staff is collaborating with United Way of Clinton County and other not-for-profit and governmental agencies so that they can provide community information to callers if they have it or point them in the right direction if they do not.
Health Library staff members Linda Gallagher and Laura Waln encourage community groups to send them information on valuable community services and upcoming events so that they can include it in their database for callers. Information can be mailed to the Health Library at POB 600, Wilmington 45177 or emailed to ligallagher@cmhregional.com or lawaln@cmhregional.com.
Wireless internet access has been available in some areas of Clinton Memorial Hospital for many years but was recently expanded to the library and other locations. Although the library has two desktop computers with internet access, more and more hospital visitors want to use their own laptop to stay connected to the office or surf the web while at CMH for business or while waiting for a friend or family member in surgery.
Additional seating will be added for laptop users later this year as well as a courtesy phone as part of a slight redesign to make the library even more customer service friendly. The library also became home base for CMH’s recycling program this year and offers the freecyling of lightly used books, magazines, and jig saw puzzles.
Located on the main floor of the hospital, the CMH Health Library is literally, physically and virtually the communication, clinical and general reference hub for CMH physicians, employees, patients and patients’ families, and students, as well as vendors and other visitors.
It is a full service multi-media service, offering electronic and print resources, journals, newspapers, models and other teaching aids. Reference librarians and volunteers are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Health Library staff also assists in management of resources in libraries at the CMH/University of Cincinnati Family Medicine Residency Program and the Foster J. Boyd, MD, Regional Cancer Center.[[In-content Ad]]
