This month, the Leesburg Library is encouraging all patrons to come and participate in some warm and toasty or sweet and tasty programs during the month of February.
Our Knit Together group continues to meet every Thursday (Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23) from 5:30-7 p.m. They would love to have new members attend regardless of knitting experience or expertise.
The library is hosting a "Crazy Sweater Contest" this month. Dig through those closets to find an unusual or crazy looking sweater. Wear the sweater to the library anytime during the week of Feb. 6-10. The staff will take your picture in your sweater and then post the picture so our patrons can vote on the craziest sweater the following week (Feb. 13-15). Prizes will be awarded!
Our teen book group, SPARX, will meet on Thursday, Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. for a Mad Hatter Tea Party. Pizza & tea party goodies will be served. Participants are encouraged to dress up as a character from Alice in Wonderland and bring a $5 Valentine gift to exchange. There will be games and a movie, too. Please let the library staff know if you can attend so we have enough food for all! The book for this month is The Lovely Shoes by Susan Shreve. Copies are available for check out at the front desk.
We hope you will celebrate Valentine's Day with us on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Our fountain will be running over with delicious chocolate! Stop in for a treat dipped in chocolate as we wish you a Happy Valentine's Day.
Dawna Jo Kiesling will visit us to share healthy nutrition tips from 10-noon on Thursday, Feb. 16. Our adult book discussion group, RRR meets at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday the 16th as well.
Highland County Libraries, including the Leesburg Branch, will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20 in observance of Presidents' Day. Please use our outdoor book drop to return items.
Our evening story time for this month will be on Monday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their 3-5 year olds in for some story time fun. We are going to go to the beach this month, so have the little ones wear their swimsuits to the library!
Our morning story times continue to be a fun-filled way to share the love of books and reading with our littlest patrons. Our Wee Ones (6 months-36 months) meet on Thursdays at 10 a.m. Our Tater Tots (3-5 years) meet on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. This month's topics include Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, Polar Bears and Let's Go to the Beach. Please call or stop by the front desk for more information.
