3rd annual all breed horse show Memorial Day weekend

The Appalachian Appaloosa Association will host its third annual open all breed horse show during Memorial Day weekend at the Roberts Arena in Wilmington.
Held May 29-30, there will be classes for challenged riders, youth and adult, with a high point award, money classes, costume class and contesting classes. Beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday will be a "money show" with Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m., a "fun show."
There will be a special $150 Matt Maupin Class with all proceeds from this class donated to Yellow Ribbon Support Group. Dinner – open to the public – Provided by the Thank You Foundation. All donations will go directly to this group. RSVP requested. Dessert – open to the public - Pie and Cake Auction. Donate and bid on the most creatively decorated pies, cakes and containers.
Sunday is a day for families with or without horses to just come and have fun.
Highlights include a Costume Class, Stick Horse Races – bring your own or make one at the arena, and a Boot/Shoe Scramble.
If participants are without a horse, AAA Youth Group will have a booth set up with all the necessary supplies for participants to make their own stick horses for riding in classes that day. One little lady told me once that her horse didn’t do so good because he didn’t know what he was supposed to do, so we will be sure to have instructions and practice areas for those who wish to train their stick horses that day. Riders of any age and skill level compete in classes on Sunday. Challenged riders must be lead on their horse and have a guide/assistant with them at all times.
