Richard K. Rhoads

Richard K. Rhoads, 87, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, Nov. 14, 2025 at Bethesda North Hospital.

He was born Sept. 23, 1938 in Highland County, the son of the late Winifred and Ada Mae (Gilletly) Rhoads. 

Richard lived his life to the fullest, working during the day as a mason/block layer and coming home to take care of his farm. His family was the most important thing to Richard. He was a lifetime member of the Highland County Coon Hunters.

Richard is survived by a son, Harold "Bub" Rhoads; three grandsons, Tim (Courtney) Rhoads, Jared (Emily) Rhoads and Bradley (Sam Jarvis) Rhoads; five great-grandchildren, Holly Rhoads, Andrew Rhoads, Tate Rhoads, Tanner Rhoads and Gracie Rhoads; a sister, Beverly Chaney; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann (Newman) Rhoads on March 26, 2020; son, Winifred "Winnie" Rhoads; brothers, Ted, Frank, Russell and Tom Rhoads; and a sister, Patsy Monteith.

Graveside service will be noon Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Leesburg. No visitation will be held.
