In a true storybook success, Whiteoak High School junior Landen Eyre and recent graduate Weston Blair delivered outstanding performances at the OHSAA State Championships, making their school and community incredibly proud.

Landen Eyre was crowned state champion in the 3200-meter run at Welcome Stadium in Dayton this past Friday. Landen's remarkable victory came with a stellar time of 9:10.07. What makes this feat even more impressive is that Landen achieved this title without the benefit of track and field facilities at Whiteoak High School. Despite this challenge, his determination and hard work have led him to the pinnacle of success.

In addition to his state championship, Landen also finished third in the 1600-meter run and was a crucial member of the 14th place 4x800 relay team. His achievements on the track are paralleled by his excellence in the classroom and his positive impact in the community. Landen is known for his relentless work ethic, leadership and role model qualities, making him a true ambassador for Whiteoak High School.

Weston Blair, a standout graduate from the class of 2024, also made his mark at the state championships, finishing sixth in the 800-meter race with an impressive time of 1:56.12. Weston has left an indelible mark on Whiteoak High School as one of the most decorated runners in its history. He is a two-time state qualifier in both cross-country and track and field, with numerous accolades to his name.
Weston's dedication and achievements extend beyond the track.

He exemplifies the spirit of a Wildcat, demonstrating remarkable character and commitment. He will be continuing his academic and athletic career at Morehead State University, where his future looks incredibly bright.

On behalf of the Bright Local School District, we are immensely proud of Landen Eyre and Weston Blair. Their success is a testament to their hard work, determination, and the support of their amazing families.

They have represented our school district and community with the utmost distinction.

Congratulations to Landen and Weston for their incredible achievements and for embodying the spirit of Whiteoak High School. Our district is blessed to have such exceptional student-athletes who inspire us all.
