You were born, and you will die. That sentence is just plain, bare fact.

And everything that you’ve done in between those two momentous dates has come together to create your life.

From learning as a newborn how to manipulate your mom into holding you constantly while she cooks, cleans and runs errands, to maybe being the oldest person in the group and having to guess what everybody is saying because you have lost most of your hearing due to age.

According to the Bible, your days here on this planet were numbered from the very day you were born. Your God had a specific reason and purpose in creating you and putting you on this ancient planet.

You may have found your purpose early in life and spent all of your years fulfilling that goal. Or you may have been one of those billions who spend a lot of years searching, wondering, goofing off, or making one mistake after another as you try to find a path in life that perfectly suits you.

For most of us, though, “the one perfect path” with nothing else even coming close to being important, simply has never existed. That’s because we are always growing and changing.

Mentally, physically and emotionally, we can never stay the same. The you that existed at age 17 was a far cry from who you are now. And the things in life that seemed so important back then are a distant, almost laughable memory to the person who now looks back at you from your mirror each morning.

Were those earlier driving forces wrong? No, they were simply a part of the you that existed at that point. But now? You are much different than the person you were back then. You have grown older, and more mature in your thoughts and emotional needs. Life for you has undergone a lot of changes.

Now you have different interests and goals in your life. Now you have people in your life that need your time and loving attention, and you simply do not have the interest or time to concentrate on the things that used to be the be-all-and-end-all in life to you.

And that is normal. Because your life is constantly changing with your circumstances.
And that is why today I am writing my final column. My goodbye to you as the author of CoffeeTime Column.

My own life has evolved in the last year, and I am now in a different world of family responsibilities, a new job and learning to navigate life where God has placed me.

I have thoroughly enjoyed writing this column for the last 10 years. I thank each of you for letting me put in writing my perspective and beliefs about this crazy but wonderful world. I hope I have not been the cause of confusion or consternation, but instead, a help to you and perhaps provided a giggle or two.

May God bless.
