William E. “Bill” Graves

William E. “Bill” Graves, 86, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 23, 2026 in Greenfield. 

He was born Dec. 8, 1939, in Leesburg, the son of the late Leonard and Iva (Hafer) Graves.

Bill was a hard-working man who dedicated many years to his various careers as a lineman, construction contractor, and owner of the Hillsboro/Washington Court House Dry Cleaners. He took great pride in his work and in serving his community throughout the years. Bill was also a proud United States Navy veteran and a faithful member of the Hillsboro First Presbyterian Church.

Above all else, Bill treasured his family. He shared a loving marriage of more than 65 years with his beloved wife, Donna Burke Graves, whom he married on Dec. 23, 1960. Together, they built a life centered around love, faith and family. Bill especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, creating many cherished memories that will forever be held close by those who loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Graves; two children, Darci (Phillip) Kellenberger of Urbana and David (Laura) Graves of Amelia; five grandchildren, Justin (Katrina) Lewis, Jordan Lewis, Emily Tortorella, Ty Sigler, and Hannah Graves; five great-grandchildren, Hope Grimes, Tyler Lewis, Sadie Lewis, Andrew Lewis, and Jackson William Lewis; one sister-in-law, Toni Graves of Greenfield; and two nieces, Joy (Jeff) Pence and Jeri Raike, both of Greenfield.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Lynne Graves; and one brother, Robert Lee Graves.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and life celebration from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Maurice Mitchell will officiate. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Highlawn Cemetery in Washington Court House.
