Willard Lester Speakman, 82, of Greenfield, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 at Edgewood Manor, Greenfield.
He was born Feb. 1, 1928 in Washington C.H., Ohio, the son of the late Homer and Ella Belle (Beatty) Speakman.
Mr. Speakman was a retired crane operator at American Builders in Jamestown and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, in 2001; by two sons, Stephen and Daniel Speakman; and by a step-grandson, Corey Thacker.
He is survived by two grandchildren, Steve (Karla) Speakman of Greenfield and Mandy (Barry) Jones of South Salem; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Speakman, of Greenfield; step-grandchildren, Travis (Jay) Thacker, Kelly (Brian) Campbell, Shawn (Esther) Thacker, Mark (Shelley) Ferrell, Ray (Wendy Ferrell, Aaron Thacker, Brooke (Adam) Toothman, and Cody Thacker; step-children, Greg Thacker of Xenia, Steve (Debbie) Thacker of Port William, Dave (Brenda) Thacker of Portsmouth, and Pat (Clarence) Ferrell of Jamestown; two sisters, Donna Carter of Washington C.H. and Doris Speakman of Columbus; great-grandchildren, Courtney, Whitney, and Kyle Speakman, Nate Mess, and Wyatt and Emily Jones; and several step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 2010 at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenfield Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until time of service on Monday.
