Wendell L. "Junior" Pointer
Wendell L. "Junior" Pointer, 77, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2025 at home with family by his side.
He was born Sept. 18, 1947 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Wendell Edward Pointer and Carol Beatrice (Martin) Pointer.
Junior drove a gas truck for 30 years and upon retirement, began a new career with FRS, driving one of the vans. One of Junior's greatest joys in life was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Pointer, whom he married June 23, 1967; one son, Shawn Pointer; three grandchildren, Dylan (Caitlynne) Pointer, Haley (Rusty) Clark and Bryce (Kearston) Pointer; seven great-grandchildren, Jenson Pointer, Crue Pointer, Henry Clark, Chase Clark, River Clark, Brea Pointer and Liam Pointer, a great-grandchild on the way, Colt Pointer; and an aunt, Mary Lou (Fred) Adams.
In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his brother, Dannie Pointer.
A memorial service will be held at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home, 138 E. Main St. Hillsboro, Saturday, June 28 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kraig Walker officiating.
Friends will be received at Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home Saturday from 11 a.m. until the start of the service at 1 p.m.
