Virgil M. "Shorty" Robinson, 88, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday evening, May 11, 2010 at the Salyer Adult Group Home.
He was born March 10, 1922 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Thomas and Abby Robinson.
Mr. Robinson had retired as a foreman after 32 years of service with Cincinnati Milacron in Wilmington. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Highland Lodge #38 F&AM.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Bill Salsgiver of Westminster, S.C.; one son, Terry Robinson of Hillsboro; two grandchildren, Jessica Spears of Hillsboro and Heather (Robert) Bonner of Simpson, N.C.; and one-half sister, Dorothy Cramblett of Dayton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Carroll Robinson, on April 27, 2010; and one half-sister, Evelyn Kane.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, May 17th at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor Dan Lamb will officiate. Masonic Lodge services will be held 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
