Violet J. Kelley

Violet J. Kelley, 95, of Mowrystown, passed away Monday, May 18, 2026 at Hillsboro Acute Care in Hillsboro.
 
She was born May 30, 1930 in Highland County, the daughter of the late Ernest Edward Dickey and Anna Grace Morgan Dickey.

Violet worked worked several years as a beautician before owning and operating Kelley's Market in Fairfax. 
 
She was a member of the Mowrystown Presbyterian Church and Circle No. 2.
 
Surviving are her husband, Hayes Kelley, whom she married June 26, 1951; a daughter, Deborah (Richard) Tissot; son-in-law, Dennis Overstake; three grandchildren, Fallon Tissot, Christopher Tissot and Kayla (James) Overstake Dettwiller; and two great-grandchildren, Claire and Hayes Dettwiller.
 
In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by a daughter, Dixie Overstake; brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Bonnie Dickey.
 
Services will be held at Mowrystown Presbyterian Church, Saturday, May 23 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mike Brazelle officiating. Interment will follow in the Mowrystown Cemetery, Mowrystown.
 
Friends will be received at Mowrystown Presbyterian Church Saturday, May 23 from 11 a.m. -1 p.m.
