On Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 at Bethesda North Hospital, Thomas H. Throckmorton, loving husband, father, gramps, uncle and friend, ended his battle with cancer and went to rest in heaven, surrounded by his loving family and friends with laughter up until his passing.
He was born Dec. 4, 1945 to the late Richard and Mae (Crabtree) Throckmorton in Lucasville. On June 27, 1964, he married the love of his life, Bonnie Marie Carey. From this marriage, they had two children, Leona Mae (Tim) Heizer of Lynchburg and Thomas Harold Throckmorton Jr. of Leesburg, as well as a special niece who they helped raise as a daughter, Kitty Burchett of Hillsboro, and a special nephew who was thought of as a son, Todd Carey of Hillsboro.
He leaves many loving memories in the lives of his five grandchildren, who he adored more than life itself: Bradley Throckmorton (fiance Randall Wilkin); Zachary Heizer; Brandon Throckmorton (girlfriend Anna Garringer); the "only" granddaughter Emily Heizer; and Dalton Throckmorton. He taught them all many lessons in life and shared special memories with each of them that they will have for a lifetime.
He is also survived by two brothers, Gary Throckmorton of Hillsboro and Dave (Judy) Throckmorton of Lucasville; sister in laws, Mortie Throckmorton of Lucasville and Donna Throckmorton of Hillsboro; Carole (Harry) Davies of Xenia; and Ernie (Rhonda) Carey of Hillsboro. Also surviving are hundreds of special nieces, nephews and friends, including Patty Crabtree, who grew up with him like a sister.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers: Vivian Mosley, Lula Kidder, Barbara Page and Imogene Oppy Crabtree, and Herb Throckmorton, Don Throckmorton and Ed Throckmorton.
He was a retired carpenter and very talented craftsman who built many beautiful homes and buildings around the state of Ohio. He also loved to hunt deer, go fishing, and spend as much time outdoors as he possibly could. He was always available to help anyone in a time of need and loved children with all of his heart.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Pastor Jerry Fyffe and John Laufer officiating with visitation on Thursday evening from 5-9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Relay for Life team Freedom Fighters or to Easton's Purpose; both may be mailed to Freedom Fellowship Church Attention: Vickie Warnock, PO Box 1783, Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
