Roy E. Barr, 77, of Greenfield, Ohio, died Nov. 7, 2009 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 5, 1932 in Ross County, Ohio, the son of the late Walter E. and Lorna (Walker) Barr.
He was a 1950 graduate of the Edward Lee McClain High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954. He was a local barber who contributed a life of service to his customers and his community. He was a former Greenfield Council Member, a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenfield, and a member of the Ohio Masonic Order.
He is survived by Glenna E. (McGuire) Barr, whom he married on Aug. 30, 1952; three sons, Gregory (Karen) Barr, of Greenfield, Gary Barr of Morrow, and David (Jill) Barr of Ostrander; one daughter, Amy (Ron) Lewis, of Springport, Ind.; one sister, Betty (William) Landrum, of Chillicothe; eight grandchildren, Marcus Barr, Lindsey Barr, Ashley Barr, Adam Barr, Kristen Barr, Hannah Lewis, Emma Lewis, and Connor Lewis; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles, Wendell, Walter, Richard, and Darnell; two sisters, Clara Harris and Mabel Adams.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Rev. Tim Mohon officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenfield Cemetery. A visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009 with Veterans Appreciation service to be held at 7 p.m. with Greenfield F&A.M. #318 services to follow.
