Roy A. Adams, 68, of Hillsboro, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at his residence.
He was born Dec. 17, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Anthony Ralph and Margaret Mardis Adams.
Mr. Adams had retired after 32 years from General Motors in Dayton, where he had worked as a tool maker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He was an avid fisherman and woodworker.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Smrek Adams, whom he had married on July 6, 1966 in Washington, D.C.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Holly Adams, Jr. of Sterling Heights, Michigan; Robert and Tonya Adams of West Carrollton, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Anthony Brooks, Dustin, Tessa, Drew and Jared Adams, Scotty West and Ashley Brotherton; one great-granddaughter, Autum West, one sister, Virginia Hunt of Ann Arbor, Michigan; one brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Imogene Adams of Lawrenceville, Penn.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lena Schmidt; one brother, Ralph Adams; and his step-father, Herman Crites. 
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Mike Paraniuk at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10th in St. Mary Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Burial will follow with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206.
