Rose Mary (Wheaton) Minton, 83, of Greenfield, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 at Edgewood Manor of Greenfield.

She was born Oct. 9, 1927 in Fayette County, Ohio, the daughter of the late L. Neal and Madge M. (Leaverton) Wheaton.

She was retired from the Irwin Company of Wilmington, where she served as an inspector. She enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the American Legion Post 14 Women's Auxiliary.

She is survived by two sons, Tony E. (Linda) Wheaton of South Salem and Robert (Rita) Wheaton of New Martinsburg; grandchildren Tony Lee (Darlene) Wheaton of South Salem, Christina Wheaton Campbell of South Salem, Jessica (J.T.) Wheaton Ely of Washington C.H., and Jennifer (Jeff) Thorman of New Mexico; great-grandchildren Dillon Wheaton and Taylor Wheaton of South Salem and Zoe Wheaton, Lexis Ely, and Sebastian Ely of Washington C.H.; one sister, Betty (John) Buck of Greenfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, O. Dwight Minton, on April 15, 1989; three sisters, Kathleen Wilson, Ida Belle Simmons, and Sara Jane Wheaton; and four brothers, Willard, Otis, Nevil, and Homer Wheaton.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home of Greenfield with Rev. Terry Washburn officiating. Burial will follow at the Cochran Cemetery of New Martinsburg. Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Friday..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Edward Lee McClain High School, in care of the Treasurer's Office, 200 North Fifth St., Greenfield, Ohio 45123.
