Roosevelt Hackworth, 77, of Peebles, died of an extended illness Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born Nov. 6, 1932 in Paintsville, Ky., the son of the late George and Rissie (Collins) Hackworth.

He was a farmer and a member of the Riceville United Methodist Church in Riceville, Ky.

He is survived by his wife Rosa (Conley) Hackworth, whom he married Sept. 26, 2008; four sons, Randy (Danita) Hackworth, Richard (Sherryl) Hackworth, Steve (Rose) Hackworth, and Eric (Lisa) Hackworth; five daughters, Annette (Sturgil Lowman) Wafford, Christy (Stacy) Ward, Patty (Fred Bailey) Hackworth, Sheryl Hackworth, and Missy Branyord; five stepsons, Robert Woods, Johnny Adams, Floyd Adams, Rick Adams, and David Adams; five stepdaughters, Virgie Montgomery, Hazel Ingle, Rosa Mae Mossenbarger, Brenda Vernetta, and Linda Justice; many grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews; three sisters, Lucille Knisley, Ruth McKibben, and Pam Kerns, and special friends Ralph and Betty Lambert and Francis Rodgers.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Alberta (Woods) Hackworth, on May 21, 2007; a son, James Hackworth; a stepson, Jack Adams; three brothers, Woodrow, John, and George Hackworth; a sister, Hazel Drum; and both parents.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 at Barnett's Creek Baptist Church in Staffordsville, Ky. with Joe Nelson and Ralph Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in the Hackworth Family Cemetery in Staffordsville. A visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield, followed by a funeral service at 8 p.m.
