Richard E. Gillfillan, 84, of Louisville, Ky., died June 5, 2010 at Episcopal Church Home in Louisville.
He was born Dec. 15, 1925 in Ross County, OH, the son of the late Walter A. Gillfillan and Frankie (Purdum) Gillfillan.
He was a retired farmer and a former employee of Ferno Washington. He was a member of the South Salem Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine (Bennett) Gillfillan of Louisville, Ky., who he married July 19, 1947; one daughter and son-in-law, Jane Gillfillan Hersch and George Hersch of Prospect, Ky.; one foster son, Michael Bowman of Greenfield; two grandsons, Andrew Hersch of Crandall, Ind. and Evan Hersch of Louisville; two foster grandchildren, Ekko and Randy Bowman of Greenfield; one sister, Marceil Fout of Chillicothe; and three brothers, John Gillfillan of Troy, Gordan Gillfillan of Chillicothe, and Thomas Gillfillan of Jackson.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wedneday, June 9, 2010 at South Salem Methodist Church in South Salem with Rev. Phil Malone officiating. Burial will follow in the South Salem Cemetery. A visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield.
