Ray Morgan, 72, of Hillsboro, died Monday morning, November 9, 2009 at his residence.
He was born July 9, 1937 in Fairfax, Ohio, the son of the late James M. and Mable Barnes Morgan.
Mr. Morgan had worked for twenty years for the Hillsboro Manufacturing Company and had also worked for the Hobart Corporation and Airborne Express. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and had been an umpire for the Hillsboro Recreation Commission for many years. He had attended the Hillsboro Free Will Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Betty (Kelley) Morgan; three daughters, Terry (Joe) Butcher of Seabrook, Texas, Cathy (Barry) Pettyjohn of Hillsboro, and Tracy (Dennis Sears) Biscoe of Hillsboro; three sons, Mike (Bobbie) Morgan of Hillsboro, Billy (Sandi) Morgan of Leesburg and Tony (Tina) Morgan of Wilmington; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one sister, Louise Moore of Xenia; and one brother, Robert (Jenny) Morgan of Hillsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Cluxton and Bessie Clonch, and two brothers, James “Buck” Morgan and Gerald “Pete” Morgan.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, November 13th at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial, with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the Barnes Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
