Preston B. Springer, 74, of the community of Fairfax, died Friday morning, Dec. 3, 2010 at his residence.

He was born Jan. 5, 1936, in Christiansburg, a son of the late Parker and Grace (Tigner) Springer.

After retiring from the Amateur Trapshooters Association, he moved to the Fairfax area, where he built his home, and worked for the Concord Township Trustees for several years. He was a member of the Highland County Antique Machinery Club, the Maytag Collectors Club, and enjoyed trap shooting. He was also a member of the Tipp City Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2201.

He is survived by two sons, Scott Springer of Vandalia and James (Sinda) Springer of Troy; two grandsons, Charlie (Rebecca) Springer of Troy and Lance (Heather) Springer of Trotwood; one brother, Parker E. (Martha) Springer of Lexington, Ky.; four sisters, Grace Eberhard of Westerville, Anna Jane (Francis) Massie of St. Paris, Inez Sloan of St. Paris, and Ethel Del Mantto of Chandler, Ariz.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his life companion, Margie “Youngin” Hill; a granddaughter, Jenni Springer; a sister, Matilda Archer; and three brothers, Carl Springer, Ed Springer and Earl Springer.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Curtis Randolph will officiate. Burial will follow in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Tipp City. Friends may call from 10 a.m until the time of the service at 11:30 at the funeral home on Thursday.
