Paul Edgar Maag, 73, died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2009 in Au Gres, Michigan.
He was born May 14, 1936 in Washington Court House, the son of Robert H. and Corneal (Conger) Maag.
He is survived by his wife, Ingrid K. Maag, whom he married in 2005; four daughters, Mahala Ergle of Washington C.H., Melinda (Beau) Wert of Mt. Orab, Lora Robinson of Fla., and Elizabeth (Dean) Mohammed of Athens; one son, Rick (Renea) Maag of Gastonia, N.C.; nine granddaughters, Mary and Heather Wert of Mt. Orab, Mariah, Meredith, and McKenzie Maag of Gastonia, N.C., Christina and Helena Robinson of Fla., and Deena and Amber Mohammed of Athens; six grandsons, Brad (Brandi) Butler of Leescreek, Ohio, Jason (Nicki) Butler of Bloomingburg, Daniel Longwood of Ind., Mason Maag of Gastonia, N.C., and Anton and Brandon Mohammed of Athens; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a wife, Margaret J. Maag; a brother, Robert L. Maag; and one sister, Claire (Butch) Cramer.
Mr. Maag served in the U.S. Army for approximately 25 years, during which
time he served as a recruiter in Wilmington, N.C., and was recognized as the top recruiter in the nation for the U.S. Army. After retiring, he was an independent insurance salesman before accepting the position of Veteran's Service Officer for Highland County from 1996-2002. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Amvets, 32nd Degree Mason, and the National Organization of Methodist Men and a member of the Shriners Club, Highland County Community Action Board, and Habitat For Humanity.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 30 from 4-8 p.m. at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, also at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home, with graveside service following.
