Orba Stanley Mills, 85, of Hillsboro, died Sunday morning, October 25, 2009 at the Laurels of Hillsboro.
He was born August 4, 1924, in Adair County, Kentucky, a son of the late Edward McKinley and Naomi “Nina” (Johnson) Mills. 
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Ford Motor Company on August 5, 1989 after thirty-one years of service.  He moved to the Highland County area in May 1956 and raised registered quarter horses, was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, and was an ardent supporter of the local 4-H Horse programs. 
He is survived by five children, Judy Cooper, Jackie Lunsford, Cherri Pitzer, James “Joey” (Sherry) Mills, and Sandy Peters, all of Hillsboro; 11 grandchildren, Eddie (Georgie) Wright of Hillsboro, Melissa (Bill) Heis of Indiana, Johnny Wright of Hillsboro, Jennifer (Rick) Taylor of Adams County, Elizabeth Lunsford of Hillsboro, Stanley Crabtree of Hillsboro, Tanga Pitzer of Hillsboro, Leah Aliff of Sardinia, Renee Mills of Marietta, Tracey Barker of Manchester, and Peggy (David) Lawson of Hillsboro; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Ira (Madge) Mills of West Chester and Chester (Audrey) Mills of West Chester; and one sister, Della Howell of Goshen.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Stamper Mills, on November 20, 2000; three brothers, Jeff “Jessie” Mills, Arvin Mills and Lee Mills; three sisters, Sissy Mills, Ruby Nifley, and Faye Carey; and a great-grandson, Dustin Edward Wright.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.  Burial will follow in the Moore’s Chapel Cemetery, where military honors will be presented by the Highland County Honor Guard.  Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Cincinnati Chapter, 644 Linn Street, Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
