Omer Eugene Harris, 76, of Greenfield, died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.

He was born Dec. 25, 1934 in Pike County, the son ofJames Corbett Harris and Margaret (Leffler) Harris.

He retired in 1989 from G.M. Baker & Son "Moody's" in Dayton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Thompson) Howland Harris, whom he married May 20, 1978; one son, James (Amber) Harris of Chillicothe; three daughters, Kimberly Ward, Kelly (Anthony) Garner and Kathy Steele, all of Chillicothe; four stepchildren, Robert (Pam) Howland, Ronald (Diana) Howland and Timothy (Jenny) Howland, all of Greenfield, and Charolette (Robert) Tippie of Waynesfield; 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Sara and Hannah Harris, Zach Ward, Gunner Steele, Justin Garner, Rachel Strange, Eric Garner, Armanda Ross, Mistee Lemaster and Judy Ward; 13 step-grandchildren, Mike (Sharon) Howland, Sr., Jeremy (Crystal) Howland, Maridawn Howland and Shawn Welch, Travis (Susan) Howland, Jena Howland and Brian Cox, Tiffany (Jarrod) Posey, Ronald Howland, Jr., Cory Tippie, Jenny (Mike) Scheeley, Candy (Scott) Newland, Angelia (Chris) Zeller, Sunnydown Tippie, and Clint Howland; 10 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends; one stepbrother, David Aspel of Londonderry; five brothers-in-law, Russell (Esther) Thompson of Frankfort, Charles (Katy) Newland of Frankfort, Jerry (Pam) Newland of Marion, John (Helen) Tull of Chillicothe, and Joe Kearns of Humbolt; and two sisters-in-law, Debbie (Phil) Baney of North Baltimore, Ohio and Ruth Ann Stine of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret (Leffler) Harris Aspel; his father, James Corbett Harris; four brothers, Charles, Lawrence, Herman and Robert Harris; one sister, Marie Harris Payne; one step-brother; Donald Aspel, and ex-wife Julie Davis; one grandson, Joshua Ward; two step-grandchildren, Tyler Brandon Howland and Arnald (Buddy) Tippie IV; and one stepson, David Howland.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 27 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Rev. Walter Snyder and Rev. Marvin Leffler officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery with military rites to be performed by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.

Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home with veterans appreciation services beginning at 7 p.m.
