Neal Alan Cook, 58, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Greenfield on May 9, 1952, to the late Nathan Ellsworth Cook and Marjorie Roberts Cook of Hillsboro.

He was a 1970 graduate of McClain High School and attended Malone College where he met is wife of 35 years, Deborah Houston. He was a licensed airplane mechanic and worked in his field of passion for 35 years, 31 of which with Airborne Express of Wilmington.

He was baptized into Christ on July 17, 1989 and was a loyal servant of Christ. He was a member of the Rainsboro Church of Christ where he has served for many years. He was instrumental in getting the church started.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Deborah (Houston) Cook; a son, Nathan (Kristy) Cook of Hillsboro; a daughter, Emily Cook of Rainsboro; a sister, Ellen (Dan) Raike of Greenfield; and grandchildren, Caleb and Katie Cook. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Janet Houston; aunts and uncles Gerald Dale Bailey, Esther Salisbury, Virginia Gray, and John Rogers; and many brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.  

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Ione Cook and Margaret and Elmer Rogers; an aunt, Elsie Bailey; an uncle, Leon Salisbury; and his father-in-law, Jack Houston.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28 at the Rainsboro Church of Christ.  Mike Free and Leo Kuhn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Roads Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27 at the church.  

The family suggests donations to Community Care Hospice, P.O. Box 123, Wilmington, Ohio 45177 or to Hope Lodge, 200 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, Tenn. 37208. The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of love shown during Neal’s illness. The many cards, visitors and prayers were very much appreciated. A very special thanks goes to Community Care Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided.
