Nancye D. Pumpelly, 95, formerly from the Danville area, died Friday, May 21, 2010 at her home in Frankfort, Ind.
She was born Jan. 4, 1915 in Mason County, Ky. to the late William F. and Charlotte Dodson. She was the youngest of six children, all of whom preceded her death.
Nancye graduated from Mayslick High School in 1933. On Aug. 28, 1940, she married R. Matison Pumpelly. In 1950, they moved to the Danville area, where they farmed and were active members of the Dodsonville Methodist Church. She served on the district board of the W.S.C.S. The couple later became members of the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene.
Following the death of Matison in Nov. 2003, Nancye moved to Indiana, where she made her home with her daughter.
Nancye enjoyed cooking, gardening, working puzzles and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her four children, Nancye Rose (Dale) of Lancaster, Charlene Trombley (Phill) of New Vienna, R.M. Pumpelly II of Wilmington, and Pamela Bricker (Jim) of Frankfort, Ind.; special daughter Verlene Heston (Noel) of Hillsboro; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Melissa Pumpelly.
Visitation will be held at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, May 25th from 5-8 p.m. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26th at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene, with Paster Tom Zile officiating. Burial will follow at the Hamer Township Cemetery.
Arrangements are being taken care of by Rhoads-Edgington Funeral Home.
