Mary B. Strain

Mary B. Strain, 89, of the Allensburg community, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on March 26, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born Feb. 6, 1936, in Brown County, the daughter of the late Bernard and Bertha (Schwallie) Germann. 

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death exactly 28 years ago by her husband, Roger O. "Pete" Strain on March 26, 1997; daughter-in-law, Juanita Strain; brother, Mike Germann; and sister, Betty Jo Colvin. 

Mary dedicated her career to health care, serving as a purchasing agent at Highland District Hospital, where her commitment to helping others shone brightly. 

She is survived by her five cherished children, Anita Norris, Jo (Randy) Hartley, Frances (Blaze Brown) Randolph, Pat (Peggy Ward) Strain and Mike (Paula) Strain; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mary will also be deeply missed by her brother, Willie Germann; her sister, Toni Patton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family and friends who adored her spirit and strength.

Mary's life will be celebrated with a public viewing at St. Mary Catholic Church, 212 S. High St., Hillsboro, on March 31 at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. The family invites all who knew her to join in remembering a remarkable woman who exemplified grace, love, and compassion.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 212 S. High St., Hillsboro, Ohio 45133.
