Marguerite Emma Newman, age 92, of Hillsboro, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at the Heartland of Hillsboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 7, 1917 in Middletown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Coolidge Perdue.
She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, Highland District Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Highland County Senior Citizens, and she along with her husband “Bud” owned and operated the Highland Market and Restaurant for many years.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Patricia Newman of Hillsboro, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willard “Bud” Newman, who died August 2, 1987; son David Newman, who passed away in 1960; sister Pearl Grandsick; and two brothers Roy and Robert Perdue.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home, Hillsboro. John Porter will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
