Lyda B. DeHass, 91, of Mowrystown, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Hillsboro, Ohio.
She was born Sunday, November 18, 1917, in Adams County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph William Gardner and Leona Welch Gardner.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Northside Church of Christ in Hillsboro and had worked as a home health care nurse for several years.
Surviving are eight children, Betty Johnson of Hillsboro, Richard DeHass of Tulsa, Okla., Mary (Eugene) Wilmoth of Sardinia, Barbara (Stephen) Sheeley of Mowrystown, Johnny DeHass of Cincinnati, Wilma (David) Wilson of Mowrystown, Steve (Betty) DeHass of Sardinia, and Lois Kay (Grover) Posey of Hillsboro; many nieces and nephews; and numerous grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ulrich S. DeHass; five brothers, Thomas, Lawrence, Leonard, Edward, and Bryant Gardner; three sisters, Anna Hanselman, Mollie Sherrard, and Alice Newman; and four grandchildren, Carol Wilson, Richard DeHass Jr., Matthew Wilson, and Cathalene Alexander.
Friends will be received 4-8 p.m., Monday, October 26 at the Edgington Funeral Home, Mowrystown, Ohio.
Services will be held at Edgington Funeral Home, Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Bill Pierce officiating.
Interment will follow in the Buford Cemetery .
Contributions may be made to the Community Care Hospice in her memory.
