Lucille Pendleton, 97, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Lodge Care Center in Loveland.
She was born Apr. 17, 1913, in Boyd County (Kilgore), Ky., one of 10 children born to the late Edward and Pearlina (Tufts) Thomas.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by seven of her nine children, Bette Witt of Madison, Ohio, Phyllis Hall and her husband Ron of Columbus, Mollie Hamilton and her husband Nelson of Hillsboro and Lake Placid, Fla, James Edward Pendleton of Inverness, Fla., Chris Hockaday and her husband David of Wilmington, Sherron Graswald and her husband Henry of Blairsville, Ga., and Donald K. Pendleton and his wife Myra of Lynchburg; three sisters, Evelyn Brouillette of Shelby, Ohio, Alice Short of Kitts Hill, Ohio, and Phyllis Hutchinson of Olive Hill, Ky.; a brother, Maurice Thomas of Grove City; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and two children, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, James Ira Pendleton, who passed away Nov. 26, 1981; a granddaughter, Shelly Hopkins; two sisters, Opal Shockey and Virginia Thorn; and three brothers, Edward Thomas, Jr., Charles Thomas and Junior Norris Thomas.
Funeral services will be held noon Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Leo Kuhn will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon on Friday at the funeral home.
