Leroy Ferris Ward, 81, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 2, 2010 at the Heartland of Hillsboro.

He was born May 28, 1929 in North Union, Ohio, the son of the late Tobias Peter and Serena Grace Seaman Ward.

Mr. Ward had worked in lumber and construction for most of his life and had worked for Ohio Valley Truss Company in Hillsboro.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Polley of Hillsboro, and his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Patty Ward of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren, Kevin Ward, Sean Ward, James (Kelly) Ward, Billy Polley, Chris (Tina) Polley, Stephanie Polley and Brandon Polley; and six great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Ward, Elayna Ward, Abby Ward, Kara Ward, Jacob Ward and Bailey Polley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Northa Ailene Crum Ward on June 9, 2000; nine brothers, Ervin, Robert, Donald, Charles, Elmer, Eugene, Paul, Branson and Chester Ward; and two sisters, Evelyn Yarger and Louise Warnock.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Phil Fulton will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
