Kenneth E. Spencer
Kenneth E. Spencer, 75, of Hillsboro, formerly of the Monongahela, Pa. area, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 11, 2023 at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born May 29, 1948 in Monongahela, the son of the late Harry G. and Eleanor (Ross) Spencer.
Mr. Spencer retired from Airborne Express in 2009 after a career of over 40 years as an aircraft mechanic and inspector. He enjoyed many years of dirt track racing in the tri-state area. Ken took pride in helping others and was well known for assisting fellow racers with their racing programs. He was also an avid hunter and had lots of “trophies” he enjoyed showing to his friends. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by two children, Tammy (Donald) Bendel of Bentleyville, Pa. and Kevin (Nicole Neville) Spencer of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Derek (Livy) Bendel, Dustin (Carlye) Bendel, Devin Anne Bendel, Nathan Spencer, Natalie Spencer and Emma Hall; a great-granddaughter due Jan. 1, 2024, Annabelle Mae Bendel; and one brother, Ronald Spencer. He leaves many close friends from the dirt track racing community and also leaves his faithful companion “Suzy.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Daniele.
The family will receive friends Monday, Dec. 18, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. A memorial service and celebration of his life will follow at 7 p.m.
