Kathryn L. Strain, 75, of Hillsboro, died Saturday March 20, 2010 at her residence.
She was born Sept. 6, 1934 in Fayette County, the daughter of the late George and Harriett (Miller) Hamilton.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Nelson Strain, on March 25, 1986; three sons, Ronald N., Randy and Robert Strain; two brothers, Edward Hamilton and George Hamilton, Jr.; and one sister, Jane Ralph.
Kathryn was a member of the Winchester Community Church of God. She retired after 31 ½ years of service from the Hillsboro City Schools, was a 4H adviser for 39 years of the Goats, Galore and More Club and was the second-longest serving adviser in the state.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Darlene Strain, of Martinsville; one grandson, R. Nyle (Jana) Strain of Ochlockonee Bay, Fla.; two granddaughters, Lacy Strain of Cincinnati, and Emily (Bryan) Dabbs of Hillsboro; three great-grandsons, Kendal and Rondal Smith, and Elijah Dabbs; three sisters, Dorothy Hamilton of Leesburg, Eileen (Max) Carson of Greenfield, and Ginny (Morris) Adams of Leesburg; a half-sister, Mary Smith of Greenfield; sister-in-law, Jo Hamilton Storer of Hillsboro; two nieces,Tamara (Kevin) Fulkerson and Tara Elking; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23 at the Hardins Creek Cemetery at Bridges. The Rev Steve Warnock will officiate.
There will be no visitation held.
