Joyce Elaine Rhodes

Joyce Elaine Rhodes, 75, of Leesburg, passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2026 at home.
 
She was born on May 11, 1951, in Portsmouth, the daughter of Ralph and Hilda (Pyles) Roffe.

She was a 1969 graduate of Minford High School and obtained her registered nurse degree from Shawnee State University. She was a member of the Walnut Hill Church of Christ in Christian Union and formerly employed at Airborne Express in Wilmington.
 
She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Rhodes, whom she married on May 27, 1977; one son, Nicholas (Katharyn) Rhodes of Hamersville; one daughter, Angie (Justin) Basford of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Eli Anderson, Annie Rhodes, Molly Rhodes, Josie Rhodes, Caleb Rhodes, Olivia Basford and Willa Basford; two sisters, Sharon Kayser of Minford and Jennifer Evans of Portsmouth; two brothers, Randy (Gayle) Roffe of Minford and Mike (Sherry) Roffe of Wheelersburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by one niece, Jodi Kayser; two nephews, Mark Evans and Brian Evans; one brother-in-law, Ben Kayser; one sister-in-law, Cathy Rhodes; and both parents.
 
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28 at the Walnut Hill Church of Christ in Christian Union with Pastor Mike Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in the Roads Cemetery near Rainsboro.
 
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
