Johnnie C. Thompson, 67, of Leesburg, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 at Christ Hospital.
He was born May 23, 1943 in Clinton County, the son the late Arthur and Flora (Helterbran) Thompson. 
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph, Paul, Elzza and Floyd Orva Thompson; three sisters, Dorothy Burchett, Kathleen Brychta and Pauline O'Bryant.
He was a 1961 graduate of Franklin High School in Locust Grove, served his country in the U.S. Army and retired in 1996 from General Motors after 30 years of service.
On July 14, 1968, he was united in marriage to June (Miller) Thompson, who survives. He is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Faith Thompson of Leesburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and David Waits of Hillsboro; three grandchildren, Brittany Waits, Shania Thompson and Austin Thompson; three brothers, Kenneth Thompson of Texas, Forest Thompson of Hillsboro, and Bob Thompson of Highland; two sisters, Stella Ward of Locust Grove, and Marlene Foster of Locust Grove; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7 at the Hillsboro Church of God, 5760 U.S. 62 south, Hillsboro. The Rev. John Maggard will officiate with burial and military graveside rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sinking Spring.
Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church of God.
