Though he had been retired for many years, he never stopped working, especially when it came to caring for his home and yard. He took great pride in mowing his lawn, tending to his animals, and staying busy. Above all, he was known as one of the kindest people you could meet – someone who would do anything for anyone without hesitation. We find comfort knowing he is at rest and watching over us. He will be forever loved, deeply missed and never forgotten.

He is survived by his beloved spouse, Deloris “Dee” (Yates) Hunter, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years; and his son, John David Hunter Jr. (Misty Crothers) of Hillsboro. He was a proud grandfather to Shelbi Skaggs (Aaron Skaggs) of Oak Ridge, Tenn., Brandi Hunter (Jordan Smith) of Fort Mitchell, Ky. and Makayla Osman (Cody) of West Union. He was also blessed with three great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Vivian Skaggs, and Maelyn Osman who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brothers, Larry (Patty) Hunter, James “Jim” Hunter, Donald (Jenny) Hunter and Eddie (Karen) Hunter.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary (Alfred Groves), Betty (Bill Smith), Barbara, June and Virginia; and his sister-in-law, Sandy Hunter.

Visitation for John will be held on Friday, May 1 from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Cemetery. For more information or to leave an online condolence for the family please visit www.turnerfuneralhomes.cc.
