James R. Ball, 73,  of Highland, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 30, 1936, in Adams County, a son of the late Reece and Ola (Barrett) Ball.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a retired dairy farmer.
He is survived by four sons, Robert L. Ball of Tallahassee, Terry Ball of Leesburg, James R. Ball of Midland, and Jerry Ball of Leesburg; a special son with whom he made his home, Will (Nellie) Wilson of Highland; a special daughter, Corrinne Ball of Leesburg; 10 grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan) Bethel of San Diego, Calif., Terry Ball, Jr. of Leesburg, Michelle Ball of Circleville, Brittany Ball of Leesburg, Zachary Ball of Leesburg, J.R. Ball of Leesburg, Jonathan Ball of Leesburg, Kamron Ball of Midland, Kaylee Ball of Midland, and Joshua Ball of Leesburg; three special grandchildren, Joey, Spike, and Bobby Wilson; two great-grandchildren, Hayley Bethel of San Diego and Nick Sowders of Circleville; one brother, Bill (Janet) Ball of Tranquility; four sisters, Jean (Bernie) Zoeller of Kenton, Maude (Jim) Moore of Seaman, Linda Horline of Portland, Ind., and Mary Denney of Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise and Ruth Ball, and a brother, Charles D. Ball.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Sat., Jan. 23, 2010 at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Leo Kuhn officiating. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow in the Prospect Cemetery.
