James Frederick Bowman (Fritz), 86, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at his residence.
James was born May 14, 1924 in Rainsboro to James R. Amburgey and Elizabeth E. Brewer.
James is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald A. Bowman; brothers-in-law, David Brown, Kelly Brown, and Bradley Evans; and sisters-in-law, Vida Wyatt, Carlene Pilair (Tuffy), and Henrietta Brown.
James is survived by his wife, Geneva (Brown) Bowman, who he married Feb. 17, 1954; his children, Fred N. Bowman of Petersburg, Ewill E. Bowman (Ed) of Tennessee, Mary Diana Bechdolt (Greg) of Hillsboro, and Paul N. Bowman (Charity) of Mowrystown; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Bowman of Greenfield; a brother-in-law, Larry Wyatt; a sister-in-law, Helen Brown; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dave and Martha Zink, Danny Hall and Irene Brown, Jimmy Norris and Gladys Maggard, and Fred and Charlene Birchfield; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a nurse, Don Osborn, a special friend.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 4, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Craig McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Roads Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from noon till time of service at 2 p.m.
