James C. Willman, 85, of Daytona Beach, passed away Feb. 14, 2011 at his residence in Holly Hill, Fla.
An Army veteran, James managed a Shell Service Station on South High Street in Hillsboro for many years. In 1965, he and his family moved to the Daytona Beach area, where he managed a Gulf Service Station and then continued to work for the Cunningham Corp., delivering oil and painting trucks. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and gave back to his community by building and repairing bikes for kids.
He was preceded in death by parents, Dimond and Nellie Willman; his sister, Mary Willman Applegate; and his brother David Willman.
Survivors include wife Dorothy Newhouse Willman, formerly of Mowrystown; two daughters, Anita Willman of Port Orange and Diana Shorette of South Daytona; two sons, Phil of Delaware, Ohio and Greg (Hortense) of Georgia; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Norma Willman; and nieces and nephews, Danny Willman, Kathy Cline, and Steve Willman, as well as Mary's children, Avery Applegate, Randy Applegate, Doug Applegate, and Peggy Blankenship.
A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 20 at the Dale Woodward Funeral Home, Holly Hill, Fla.
In lieu of other remembrances, the family suggests donations be made to The Outreach Center, 562 N. Ridgewood Ave., Daytona Beach, Fla. 32114.
