Jack Norman Shade, 85, of Greenfield, died Monday, May 24, 2010 at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering.
He was born May 6, 1925 in Montgomery County, the son of the late Lawrence and Edith Brookey Shade.
He was a heavy equipment operator for the Local 19, a member of the Operating Engineers Local 18, and an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He was a member of the Greenfield congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII.
He is survived by three sons, Randy (D.J.) Shade of Dayton, Bryon (Brenda) Shade of Leesburg, and Dana (Michelle) Shade of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Brandy (Paul) Hooper of Michigan, Bethany (Josh) Swart of Hillsboro, Britany (Jeremy) Sams of Leesburg, Travis (Amber) Shade of Germantown, and Tyler (fiancee, Kelley) Shade of Germantown; six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Phoenix, William, Elsie, Liam, and Evan; and a brother, Dick Yoder of New Carlisle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, June (Wilcox) Shade; his brother, Elwood Shade; and his sister, Mary Lou Shade.
Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 29 at Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield. Burial of cremains will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010.
