Homer Pinkerton, 78, of Greenfield, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010. He had been a patient at Mount Carmel West Hospital for the past two weeks.
He was born Sept. 24, 1932 in Dawson Springs, Ky. to the late Charles E. and Stella (Justice) Pinkerton.
Mr. Pinkerton retired from Steel Ox in Washington C.H., formerly Armco, in 1994. He had over 34 years of service. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1951-55. He had been attending the Buckeye Christian Church in Grove City and was a former member of the Southside Church of Christ in Washington C.H. He was a member of the Greenfield VFW Post 4736, Concerned Veterans of Greenfield, Leesburg Lodge F&AM #78, Chapter Royal Arch Masons #40, 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Temple Shrine of Columbus, Washington Shrine Club, and the Ross County Shrine Club.
He was preceded in death by his best friend and companion, Mildred Roberts; one brother, Kermit Pinkerton; and three sisters, Bonnie Hill, Myrtle Sword and Flossie Varney.
He is survived by two daughters, Toni (Steve) Watson of Columbus and Tammy (Bob) Shasteen of Grove City; one sister, Ruby Narehood of Washington C.H.; three grandchildren, Melody (Watson) Smith, Mark Watson and Jonathan Shasteen; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Smith, Hailey Watson and Cameron Watson; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with pastor Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenfield Cemetery with military rites to be performed by the Concerned Veterans of Greenfield.
Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday with a veterans’ appreciation service to be held at 4 p.m., followed by a Masonic service.[[In-content Ad]]
