Herbert C. Roades, 80, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Crestwood Nursing Home in Hillsboro.
He was born July 16, 1929 in Pricetown, Ohio, the son of the late Clyde and Elsie Inez Chaney Roades.
Mr. Roades had owned and operated Roades Television Sales and Repair in Lynchburg for over 20 years. He was a member and past president of the Lynchburg Lions Club, a member of the Lynchburg Historical Society, a former elder and deacon of the Allensburg Church of Christ, and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Willie) Davis of Milford and Jerri (William) Stewart of Winchester; two sons, Darrel (Denise Day) Roades of Lynchburg and Kirk (Athena) Roades of Xenia; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clyde Roades, Jr. of Hillsboro; and his step-mother, Priscilla Roades of Lynchburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Sue (Teegarden) Roades on Jan. 6, 2000.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5 at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Bob Stevens and Ed Bousman will officiate. Burial with military honors presented by the Highland County Honor Guard will follow in the Dunn’s Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Davis-Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg.
