     Helen Luella Leaverton, 77, of Greenfield, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 at her home.
     She was born April 28, 1933 in Frankfort, Ohio, the daughter of the late Mark I. and Helen (Cokonougher) Smith.
     She was a 1952 graduate of Buckskin High School. She operated the Leaverton's Bargain Store for over 20 years. Helen enjoyed singing with her husband and children; she performed in the Leaverton Family Singers, a group that performed gospel music at surrounding churches and recorded an album. She shared her musical talents by singing at local nursing homes and presiding over a square dancing club with her husband for several years.
     She is survived by her husband, David Franklin Leaverton, Sr., whom she married June 26, 1955; a son, David (Sue) Leaverton, Jr., of Greenfield; a daughter, Debora (Randy) Wright of Greenfield; eight grandchildren, Randy (Jessica) Wright, Jr., of Greenfield, Crystal (Andy) Everhart of Clarksburg, April Leaverton of Greenfield, Tylor Wright of Greenfield, Lucy (Joshua) Bromer of Centerville, Aaron (Andrea) Kellis) of Chicago, Jessica Leaverton of Greenfield, and Isaac Leaverton of Greenfield; two great-grandchildren, Haylie Everhart and Renae Wright; a brother, John Smith of Florida; a sister, Roberta (Loren) Karens of Hillsboro; four sisters-in-law, Romaine Smith of Lyndon, Norma Smith of Texas, Marcelene Lawwell of New Petersburg, Ohio, and Betty (John) Bryant of Danville; and several nieces and nephews.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Mark J. Smith, Arnold Smith, and Lloyd Smith.
     Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Murray-Fettro Funeral Home in Greenfield with Pastor Wayne Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Greenfield Cemetery. A visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010.
