Harvey L. Faul, 83, passed away Nov. 8, 2024 at home after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.

He was born July 20, 1941 in Allensburg to the late Earl and Minnie Allen Faul.

He was a 1959 graduate of Hillsboro High School. In October 1962, he met the love of his life, Donna Richmond, whom he wed June 8, 1963.

He attended the Fairview Church of Christ when he was able. He was a U.S. Coast Guard volunteer and a Kentucky Colonel. He retired from his position as a maintenance mechanic at Kellogg's (formerly Keebler) in Mariemont after 23 years.

He was a man of many talents. He had an amazing ability for building high performance engines, especially big block Chevys. If something had an engine, he could find a way to get more horsepower out of it.

He is considered a legend in the sport of tractor pulling with his modified tractor “The Orange Crate,” with which he competed locally, in various states and Canada, earning numerous awards, trophies and making many friends. He had a passion for his '68 427 Corvette, which he called “Ole Blue and White.” He always enjoyed hearing the roar of the exhaust through his side pipes. It always brought a smile as he drove it to car shows and events for 20-plus years, winning many awards.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, especially in the Rocky Mountains, and long walks. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His loved ones say, “You will be missed by all and never forgotten. ‘Go Rest High On That Mountain,’ Harvey.”

Left to mourn his departure are his wife, Donna; children, Karen Croghan (Tim), Patricia Bear (Dathan) and Mark Faul (Jody); eight grandchildren, Bobby Wagner (Samantha), Scott Hurley (Amy), Craig Hurley (Samantha), Kevin Hurley (Katie), Kalie Faul, Marcus Faul, William Crabtree (Skila) and Nathan Helms; 13 great-grandchildren; and many friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024 from noon until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Don Thomas, minister, will be conducting the service. Burial will follow at Barnes Cemetery.

Family would like to express a special gratitude to Hospice of Fayette County for their excellent care.
